The Miami Heat is celebrating Green Building week, which was launched on Tuesday with the unveiling of a new, state-of-the-art facility in the city.
The Heat is partnering with the American Society of Civil Engineers to design and build a new $200 million Green Building at the Wynwood Marriott Hotel.
The facility will be the third in Miami, joining the two-story, 1,400-square-foot Sunlight Center in Miami Beach and the two new facilities the Heat has built in the past two years.
The two new buildings are slated to be ready for occupancy by the end of this year.
The building at the Marriott is the first in a new building district that has been created at the Sunlight, which includes a large parking lot.
The Sunlight is scheduled to open in 2019 and the Wynn, in 2018, will be redeveloped.
The $200-million facility will replace a parking garage, a gas station and a small retail store at the Hilton Miami Beach.
