Posted September 20, 2018 07:30:00An Iowa city council has voted to move forward with a $10 million green building project that will be completed in 2019.
The green building, dubbed the Iowa Greenhouse, was constructed by the local company, M.C.H. Green Construction.
The project, which was unveiled at a community meeting last month, will include a community garden, a rooftop garden, an open-air market and more.
“The Iowa Greenhouses, in my opinion, is the best building in the state,” Mayor Chris Stapleton said.
“I think it will become a tourist attraction.
We’ve got the best outdoor space in the world.”
It is going to be the best place in the city to live, work and play.
“Mr Stapton said the project was a win for the city.”
We have the best green building in Iowa,” he said.
The city council also decided to provide $1 million to the Iowa Conservation Council to provide a grant for a community development program.
The council voted unanimously to approve a $9.7 million grant to the council for a $4 million green project to be completed by 2021.
Council members said they hope the building will attract more people to the area.”
With the population boom, this is going into the future, not just now,” Ms McBride said.
